IT’S AN INTERNATIONAL DARLEY!!!

We have a new addition to our fleet to better serve our community! A beautiful 1988 International Darley tanker-pumper, carrying 1400 gallons of water! She comes to us from New Castle Pennsylvania, from a department that served one square mile of territory. She had less than 3,000 miles when we purchased her for $10,000. She came to us with a portable pond, ladders, hose, nozzles and some other equipment. The department we purchased her had their town mechanic service her for us before we drove her home. She’s a blessing indeed, our new Tanker 1! She had already responded to two fires since she came home at the end of July! Come out and see her at our movie night on September 29th!

The Eastern Douglas County Volunteer Fire Department held our 1st membership spaghetti dinner/ recruitment night on June 5th and it was amazing! Our volunteers worked tirelessly to get our new training room done and our firehouse in shape for this event. We thoroughly enjoyed meeting and speaking with the folks in our community and hope some will become a part of our family of volunteers! We officially dedicated our building as the Lyle Luellen Memorial Firehouse. Former captain Lyle Luellen donated the money to build the firehouse before he passed away. He blessed us immensely, and we will NEVER forget his love and dedication to our fire department and community. Member David A Vaughn Jr. built the memorial to honor Lyle. Lyle’s sister and bother-in-law, Kathy & Don Haynie were in attendance as we remembered Lyle. We also dedicated our training room as the Levi Keller training room. Levi was a junior firefighter with our department that died in a traffic accident in 2011. Levi was a dedicated active junior firefighter whose energy for our department was boundless. Levi’s parents, Mark & Angie Keller, donated part of the money in his savings account to our department after he passed away. With that money, we were able to put the electric in the firehouse. The plan from the beginning was to eventually build the training room, and we voted then and there to dedicate that room to Levi. Levi’s family were in attendance as we honored him. Levi’s dad, Mark Keller, is a firefighter and our board president. We’d like to thank every member of our department for their very hard work completing our training room and memorials. We are blessed beyond belief. We’d also like to thank our community, you are all amazingly supportive and we could not be where we are today without you. BECOME A FIREFIGHTER, JOIN OUR FAMILY! God bless you all!

Our Annual Swap meet/farmer’s market/yard sale was held on SATURDAY JUNE 2ND 2018 and was a fun time for all! We thank our community for blessing us with your support! Recruitment & Retention Coordinator Roy Crouch thanks everyone who stopped by and earned more about what we do!
